LISTEN: the Vancouver International Film Festival – interview

We’re not too far away from the kick-off date – the festival starts on September 25th!

Film festivals are a great way for all kinds of films to gain exposure to the public. Vancouver wouldn’t be Vancouver without its own!

First founded in 1982, the Greater Vancouver International Film Fest Society is in its 33rd year of celebrating Canadian, American and International films. Amazing actors, directors, writers and producers make themselves available to give the audience first hand accounts of their time not only shooting these films, but also information on upcoming works. Excitement and celebration of cinema is often tough to beat when you’re sizing up what film festivals offer.

Ahead of the festival, I had the chance to check in with Allan Franley, VIFF’s Director of Programming. In this interview, he talks about some of the things you can expect at this year’s festival, how to navigate it if it’s your first time going, and why it’s important to come celebrate some of the finest movies cinema has to offer.
